Perhaps It’s A Pickup You’re After…

Good news for our favorite car guy, Big Al Heggs. US News & World Report named Ram 1500 the top pickup for 2019. With an array of pickups for the taking, Heggs Auto can get you comfortably seated in next year’s top choice. And what boy doesn’t look good leaning up against a pickup? That’s a hint boys.

Plusses for the ladies? Many of the Ram 1500 improvements are on the inside. The cabin is described as “luxurious and spacious.” It’s also comfy with a great ride.

The article notes, “The Ram 1500 is redesigned for 2019, making an already good truck even better. This is now one of the most capable and technology-laden trucks in the class, and it retains previous standout qualities like a smooth ride and an upscale interior. It’s easy to see why the Ram finishes near the top of our class rankings. This truck deserves consideration from any full-size-truck buyer.”

It’s a complete redesign for the 2019 model year. And it’s not just small changes and upgrades. Its’ maximum towing and hauling capacities jump by roughly 20 percent. The 2019 has a 12-inch touch screen, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitors, forward collision warning, auto emergency braking, lane assist and parallel and perpendicular park assist. The frame is lighter and it can both tow and haul more than most of the competition.

Sentiments were echoed at the Detroit Auto Show where the 1500 was also named numero uno. Think classic Ram style with all-new appeal. The exterior is more sculpted. The smart cargo management and technology will surprise those leery of trucks. More space. More storage. More leather. More technology. Overall, it’s considered the most luxurious in its class. Whaaa?

Standard features include automatic headlights, locking tailgate, Class III hitch receiver, trailer sway control, heated side mirrors, push-button ignition, cruise control, a 40/20/40-split folding bench seat, air conditioning, rearview camera, rear-seat USB charge ports, Bluetooth, five-inch touchscreen and a six-speaker audio system with dual USB inputs and an auxiliary audio jack. Not too shabby.

The Big Horn adds more features including 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, tinted windows, floor carpet, cloth upholstery, and a 60/40-split folding rear bench seat. You can also opt for 20-inch wheels, air suspension, LED headlights and taillights, side steps, power-adjustable pedals, dual-zone climate control, Uconnect infotainment with an 8.4-inch touchscreen and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. Add on off-road underbody protection, larger fuel tanks and bed utilities.

The Ram 1500 moves into luxury territory with the Laramie trim level, adding onto optional features with front and rear parking sensors, leather upholstery, power-adjustable 40/20/40-split bench front seats, heated and ventilated front outboard seats, driver-seat position memory, power-adjustable pedals with memory, a heated steering wheel and keyless entry.
